Your pet may need diagnostics for a variety of reasons.
In-House Laboratory Testing
Our veterinarians use in-house labs to perform essential diagnostic tests quickly so that they can assess your pet’s health during their appointment. Bloodwork is a key component of diagnostic testing, providing insight into organ function, immune health, and potential infections. A complete blood count (CBC) measures red and white blood cells, helping to detect anemia, inflammation, or infections. Chemistry panels evaluate kidney and liver function, glucose levels, and electrolytes to confirm internal organs are working properly.
In addition to blood tests, we have other pet lab testing available. We can perform a urinalysis to check for signs of infection, diabetes, or kidney disease. Fecal testing identifies dangerous intestinal parasites. Cytology is used to examine skin, ear, and lump samples under a microscope to diagnose or rule out infections, allergies, or abnormal cell growth. For routine disease testing, we can perform some rapid tests for heartworm disease, parvovirus, FeLV, and FIV.

Our veterinary team can provide radiology with digital X-rays.
Getting Your Pet’s Results
We understand that waiting for test results can be stressful, which is why easyvet Iowa Colony strives to give timely updates on your pet’s diagnostics. If a test can be completed in-house during your pet’s visit, we will review the results with you before you leave. However, some tests take longer to process or must be sent to an external reference lab for analysis.
If your pet’s lab work cannot be completed within the same visit, we will reach out to you with the results as soon as they are available. If all results are within normal parameters and no follow-up is needed, we will send you a text update (if texting is an available option). For abnormal results requiring further discussion, our team will call you directly to go over the findings and recommend next steps for your pet’s care.
